This Saturday the Garage Brewers Society will be celebrating National Big Brew Day. The first Saturday in May is always Big Brew Day, where home brewers across the country all brew on the same day. Due to the St Louis Microfest falling on the same day this year, GBS postponed their celebration until May 9th. There will be at least 10 different brewers meeting at O'Fallon brewery this Saturday. It is a great chance to see the home brew process. You can see what it takes to make your own beer at home and see how simple it really is. Come on up and see all kinds of different levels of homebrewing, from very basic extract brewing, all the way up to Gary Reynolds 8 foot tall tree system. There might even be a sample or two of homebrew available. So come on up this Saturday, to the parking lot at O'Fallon Brewery. Brewers set up at 9, open to public at 10. |

One of the most popular events that the Garage Brewers do is the annual chili cook off and in-house beer competition. This years event will be held on January 24 and will start at 2pm at O'Fallon Brewery. The event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to show. As the name states, this is a chili cookoff. Last year 17 people submitted chili to be judged. O'Fallon was able to secure professional chili judge and multi-time Missouri state chili champion, Sheldon (can't remember his last name) to judge for us last time. We have been told he will come to judge for us again this year. Not much can be said about Sheldons taste buds aside from them being perfect. He made that perfectly clear when he judged the same chili that the people judged the year before as the best in the business. We want as many people as possible to enter their chili this year to try and dethrone the champ. So far, every year that GBS has held this event the same person has won. We are not ones to name names, but the undefeated champion does plan on entering again. Story continued
